Finding Your Weight Loss System

It's well known amongst many people who are intent on losing weight that some people will succeed while a far greater number of people will fail.

The reasons for this are many and varied and to add to the confusion are very individual and person in nature, so that what may bring success to one person may not bring success to the next.

That's why it's important to devise your own, personal weight loss system that is tailored especially to you and your very personal and individual needs.

Three Steps to Success

Finding your most effective system for losing those excess pounds is a case of knowing three main steps that have led to your being overweight and what you must do in order to remedy the situation. You need to ask yourself three questions and answer them as honestly as you can.

The main causes of your being overweight are likely to be specific to you, although there are some general areas that affect everybody.

These are eating more than you need to, ie eating over large meals, eating the wrong foods for your body, which consist of a long list of bad foods that you really should avoid if you want to be healthy, let alone be at your correct weight, drinking too much soda or alcoholic drinks that are mixed with soda or too much beer, a diet high in refined sugar laden foods, too much white bread and/or pasta, lack of exercise and leading a sedentary lifestyle that lacks physical activity.

Don't Succumb to Apathy

The predominant circumstances that are acting to maintain your unhealthy state that includes the fact that you are overweight are an unwillingness to do anything about it, until now. That may sound harsh, but when you think about it, it's the truth. Think about this, if you had been determined to do something about your present condition, you would already have done it by now and would not be reading this.

Knowing what you need to do in order to alleviate your present condition is a learning process that you are already undertaking by reading this and related articles that contain such useful and effective weight loss tips, knowledge and advice. There are many ways in which you can lose weight, but some of these are very particular to the individual, and as has already been said, what works for some may not work for others.

However, there is one underlying fact that cannot be refuted and is one thing that works for every person, every time. That is the fact that when you burn more calories than you consume, you must lose some of your fat store.

This is a fact and no matter what excuse you an come up with to try and disprove it, it relies on the laws of mass in that you cannot make something out of nothing.

Calories in, Calories Out

What that means is that you cannot get overweight if your body is burning more than it is taking in. You eat and drink foods and liquids that contain units of energy called calories.

Your body, in turn uses that energy to feed your muscles so that they can do work, as in moving your body around, making your heart beat, your digestive system work and all manner of general bodily functions. But you also burn energy in units of calories when you exercise. When you exercise and burn more of those calories than you can take in through your food and drinks, then your weight cannot increase because there is not the substance to cause that increase in body size.

Conversely, when you eat or drink in more calories than your body can burn, then you will gain body mass. That's how it gets there in the first place and there are no excuses for being overweight unless you are physically incapable of doing sufficient exercise to burn the calories that you intake.

So form your strategy for losing weight, but however you decide to do it, be aware that diet alone will help you lose weight but if you want to be certain of success you must combine a healthy, low calorie diet with daily exercise. Make this a major part of your own personal weight loss system and you will give yourself the best chances of long term success by far.
