While there may be an enormous number of overview type reviews available on the Internet for Nutrisystem, very few of them actually go into any great detail about the main component of the Nutrisystem diet food delivery plan, and that's the meals themselves. SO this article will focus mainly on the Nutrisystem meals to give you a better understanding of what you are letting yourself into when you become a customer of theirs.

You are probably already aware of how the meals arrive into your keeping, via a door to door delivery service that provides you with 28 days supply of three meals a day plus snacks and desserts. These are frozen and therefore must be stored in your domestic freezer, so before you even order, make sure you have room in your freezer to accept this many meals (totalling 84!).

So to the meals themselves. The first thing you are going to notice is their physical size. If you have become used to eating large meals, which, by the way, have probably contributed to your overweight state in the first place, then you are going to find them smaller than you're used to. This is normal and let's face it, if you are going to lose weight you are going to have to get used to eating less!

So once the initial surprise at their size has worn off, you might be pleasantly surprised at the variety of the meals and how good they look, smell and taste! These meals are complete meals in themselves but if you feel you need to add something to them to make them a little larger, at least to start with, then you are allowed to add fresh green vegetables to them or salad leaves, tomatoes, onions etc as long as they are not coated in anything or dressed with any high calorie dressing. A little extra virgin olive oil and vinegar is ok as is freshly grated pepper, chopped garlic or other herbs. This all combines to provide you with a balanced, low calorie meal that will help you to lose weight as long as you stick to this and avoid any high calorie snacks. That's cheating and when you cheat on a diet, the only person you are cheating is yourself, so if you are really serious about losing weight, then don't do it!

The breakfasts are varied each day, so one day you may have low fat yoghurt with fresh fruits, another it might be pancakes and another day you could find yourself with toast or cereal. They are all designed to start your day with a healthy boost of nutrients and set you up for the rest of the day.

Lunch will always be interesting and varies from salads, to low calorie pizza to light meals designed to give you maximum energy from minimum calories!

Even meals are always the best of the day and again will vary from day to day with things like quiches, rice dishes, meat and vegetable dishes, pasta dishes and in fact you may be pleasantly surprised at how many different types of meals they have managed to fit into the monthly plan. All evening meals are followed by a dessert and these are also tasty and interesting, sweet and rewarding.

During the day, there may be a time when you feel peckish in between meals and for this reason, Nutrisystem meals include a tasty snack that you can have each day. It will be low calorie and healthy, so don't go expecting to find potato chips or chocolate candy bars!

All in all, the Nutrisystem meals are well balanced, combining low GI carbohydrates with proteins, good fats and nutrients to provide you with everything you need to get through your day while losing weight at a steady and healthy rate.
